Itinerary

Join us on an exciting journey through the eastern side of Madeira Island, where dramatic mountains, local traditions and spectacular coastal landscapes come together along an unforgettable route. Departing from Funchal, we head towards the majestic Pico do Areeiro, one of Madeira’s highest and most iconic points. Along the way, we pass through changing mountain landscapes before reaching an impressive setting where, weather permitting, you can enjoy panoramic views over some of the island’s highest peaks. We then continue to Faial, where we stop at the Guindaste Viewpoint, known for its impressive views over the north coast, the Atlantic Ocean and the dramatic mountain scenery of this region. From there, we follow the old regional road towards Santana, stopping at the Curtado Viewpoint, located high above the surrounding landscape and offering beautiful views over Faial, the north coast and the imposing Penha d’Águia. We then arrive in Santana, famous for its traditional thatched houses and its strong connection to Madeira’s culture and traditions. Here, you will have time to explore the area and may also take the opportunity to enjoy lunch and discover some local flavours. Our journey continues to Porto da Cruz, one of the most traditional villages on Madeira’s north coast. Here, we visit the historic Engenho do Norte, where the tradition of producing Madeira rum and sugarcane spirit is still kept alive today. Finally, we head towards Ponta de São Lourenço, where we stop at the Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint. Located on the eastern side of the island, this viewpoint offers spectacular views over the volcanic cliffs, the Atlantic Ocean and the dramatic coastline, creating a striking contrast with Madeira’s greener landscapes. Throughout the entire journey, you’ll enjoy incredible viewpoints, mountain roads, local traditions and unique landscapes, making this tour an unforgettable experience through the eastern side of Madeira Island.
